Yesterday I made a post about doing something called Crochetober in a Facebook Group for crochet. The idea got a lot of attention (way more than I expected) and i was SO EXCITED that there were so many people who think this is a fun idea and want to be involved.
Unfortunately, my posts were removed for not consulting with the administrator group for the page, which is totally fine and I understand! However I am still motivated to do this and want to share with others. Initially I intended to keep this completely separate from my business and only post on my personal accounts. But I think posting it here and my related social media is OK now that I'm not allowed to post about it in that group. So, if you are interested in participating keep on reading!
October is my favorite month and I love crochet, all things spooky, macabre, and Halloween.
Goals
The goal for this is to strengthen your creativity, grow your skills, and most importantly - to have fun!
This is a lot of crocheting if you want to do all 31 Days, so I've decided to focus on smaller projects such as mini amigurumis, granny squares or appliques! And since this is all about expanding your creativity don't forget to add any extra little details to make your creations your own. For me that's the best part, I think patterns are amazing, but adding those extra special details are where I really have fun.
Want to participate but don't want to commit to ALL 31 days? Choose however many you like, don't feel pressured to crochet everything on this list.
Spice it up
For those who want a little bit of an extra challenge... at the end of the month I think it would be super fun to take all your crochet items and piece them together into one big cohesive project. For example, if you choose to make granny squares, turn them into a wall hanging! Did you make 31 minis? Why not create your own Halloween village or display? The possibilities are endless 🖤
At the end of this post I'll have two links, one to a wheel with all the prompts if you want to randomly choose what to crochet. The other link will be to a Pinterest board with some free patterns I've been collecting for inspiration.
Show off what you make!
Finally, I want to see what you create! One of my goals has always been to create a community of fiber artists who love a more spooky and macabre veraion of crochet. With this in mind, I'll be posting to Instagram and Facebook (and potentially TikTok) using #crochetober and so can you!
I think thats everything, now let's get to crocheting everyone; have fun and let the creativity flow! Oh, and don't forget to stretch and hydrate 🖤
